Common Motors has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Redwood Supplies to speed up deployment of power storage programs utilizing new US-manufactured batteries from GM and second-life battery packs from GM electrical automobiles.
The collaboration is a step towards taking GM’s battery expertise past EVs and builds on the 2 corporations’ current collaboration.
In June, Redwood Supplies launched Redwood Vitality, a brand new enterprise that deploys used EV packs and new modules into quick, low-cost power storage programs constructed to fulfill surging energy demand from AI information facilities and different purposes. The memorandum allows Redwood to pair that integration experience with second-life GM EV packs and new US-built batteries, delivering a home resolution from cell to system.
GM second-life EV batteries are already being repurposed to assist energy the biggest second-life battery improvement on the earth and the biggest microgrid in North America, at Redwood’s 12 MW (63 MWh) set up in Sparks, Nevada, supporting the AI infrastructure firm Crusoe.
“Electrical energy demand is accelerating at an unprecedented tempo, pushed by AI and the fast electrification of every thing from transportation to business,” mentioned JB Straubel, founder and CEO of Redwood Supplies. “Each GM’s second-life EV batteries and new batteries will be deployed in Redwood’s power storage programs, delivering quick, versatile energy options.”
