Mercedes downsized the powertrain on its current-generation AMG C63 S E Efficiency from a V8 unit to a 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain. Nonetheless, now the German carmaker has confirmed that it is going to be dropping the 4-cylinder powertrain on the mannequin’s next-generation iteration.
Mattias Geisen, board member for gross sales & advertising at Mercedes, confirmed that the new-generation AMG C63 will include a 3.0-litre straight six engine. He acknowledged, “We may have some choices the place we had a four-cylinder, which may even be out there as a six-cylinder going ahead. There might or will not be a hybrid, it could be pure-ICE, perhaps. We’ll let you recognize once we’re there.”

The introduction of the three.0-litre straight-six powertrain aligns the next-generation AMG C63 with its closest rivals from Audi and BMW.
