REE Automotive and Cascadia Movement, a subsidiary of BorgWarnerhave introduced a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding outlining joint growth, manufacturing and commercialization of a new-generation electrical drive unit (EDU) designed for EV unique OEMs.
The compact EDU will combine REEcorner expertise with Cascadia Movement’s iM-125 inverter-motor module, concentrating on world availability as an off-the-shelf product for electrification packages. The EDU helps everlasting magnet motors working at 400 volts, with specified peak torque of three,000 Newton-meters at gearbox output for 30 seconds, peak energy of 100 kilowatts, most pace of 835 revolutions per minute, steady torque of two,150 Newton-meters and steady energy of 57 kilowatts. The unit employs a 19.17 gear ratio, water-glycol cooling (eight liters per minute at 65°C), and weighs 54 kilograms.
The product is anticipated to deal with the rising demand for cross-platform, compact EDUs that allow increased purposeful security, with assist for ASIL-D certifications. The design is meant to simplify integration and scale back growth instances for OEMs by supporting safe, secure over-the-air updates and pairing with REE’s car management models.
REE additionally stories plans to offer Cascadia Movement entry to its current meeting line, tooling, inventories and provider community to expedite manufacturing, pending last agreements. Along with the EDU, each firms plan to evaluate OEM demand for full software-defined car (SDV) options, based mostly on REE’s zonal structure that centralizes car digital management, helps modularity and redundancy and helps scale back on-vehicle wiring.
“Integrating Cascadia Movement’s iM-125 drive unit with REEcorner expertise bolsters our portfolio of off-the-shelf electrical drive options, offering our prospects with much more flexibility of their electrification packages,” stated Joseph McHenry, Basic Supervisor of BorgWarner Portland and the Cascadia Movement model. “This collaboration displays our dedication to delivering modern, ready-to-integrate drive models that assist OEMs scale back growth time and streamline car launch.”
