Toyota begins manufacturing at North Carolina battery plant

The US$13.9bn Liberty facility will produce lithium-ion batteries for hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electrical automobiles.

Toyota has begun manufacturing at its US$13.9bn battery manufacturing plant in Liberty, North Carolina. The power, Toyota’s first battery plant exterior Japan, will produce lithium-ion batteries for hybrid electrical automobiles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electrical automobiles (PHEVs), and battery electrical automobiles (BEVs), the corporate introduced on 12 November.
